The High Court of Delhi (Middle Income Group) Legal Aid Society or DHCMILAS, is a Society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
The Society has been formed pursuant to an initiative of the Hon'ble Supreme Court for widening the scope of legal aid services to cover middle income group. It was decided to form such societies in each High Court across the country and DHCMILAS is one such society for Hon'ble Delhi High Court.
DHCMILAS has been formed with an object to provide affordable legal services in the High Court related litigation, to the litigants with income below Rs 60,000/- per month or Rs 7,50,000/- per annum.
The objective of DHCMILAS is to provide legal aid to people with modest financial means, by providing them access to quality legal services at a highly affordable and controlled rates through a panel of domain specialist advocates selected by the Society.
DHCMILAS is an autonomous body and is not governed by Legal Services Authorities Act 1987, but is governed by its own Rules and Regulations.
